@MythoYookay If you push progressives hard enough on any question, no matter how distant, the chances that they push immigration as a solution approaches 100%.
You can't actually just go out and get a job. Want to try out a field? You can't. You must commit to it blind by pursuing an educational pathway first. Don't like the field? Too bad, fuck you. This new state of affairs is fairly unbelievable & key divide between olds & young.
The fountains are flowing. The weather is perfect. ☀️
If you're in Washington DC this weekend, get out and enjoy it.
Historic fountains and public spaces across the Nation's Capital have been brought back to life as part of @POTUS's efforts to make the city safe & beautiful.
The Columbus Circle fountain at Union Station has been dry since before the first iPhone launched. 🤯
For the first time since 2007, the fountain is flowing again. Thanks to @POTUS, we are making our Nation’s Capital safe, beautiful and worthy of the greatest nation on Earth. 🇺🇸
Female mate choice is turning humanity into a genetic horror show, yet gynoslaves insist that holes are masterminding some grand eugenic selection event, intentionally culling the "bottom 2/3rds" of men. Step outside and look at the ghastly creatures that reproduce today.
Retatrutide phase 3 obesity trial results are out, and it's safe to say that this is the next generation of obesity medicine:
- 28.3% bodyweight lost on 12mg over 80 weeks (70.3 lbs)
- 30.3% at 104 weeks in higher-BMI patients (85 lbs)
- 45.3% of patients hit 30%+ weight loss
- 65.3% dropped below the obesity BMI threshold
- notable drops in blood pressure, triglycerides, cholesterol & inflammation
- no cardiac or liver signals
For those of you who are new to peptides, the reason retatrutide works better than semaglutide and tirzepatide is its mechanism.
Semaglutide hits one hormone, tirzepatide hits two, but retatrutide hits three: GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon.
Glucagon increases the amount of energy your body burns at rest so you eat less and burn more at the same time.
Retatrutide is the drug that has the potential to end the obesity pandemic.
The world in its current configuration is actually quite punishing to anyone who has calling for higher things. The odds are against us. We live and survive, barely. Boomer selfishness and materialism make high culture almost impossible for the young. I think one can say this.
With one hour to go until the close and stocks at lows, Trump does the thing and says that at the request of Qatar, UAE and Saudi Arabia he was asked to “hold off on our planned Military attack of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was scheduled for tomorrow, in that serious negotiations are now taking place, and that, in their opinion, as Great Leaders and Allies, a Deal will be made”
I have been asked by the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, and the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to hold off on our planned Military attack of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was scheduled for tomorrow, in that serious negotiations are now taking place, and that, in their opinion, as Great Leaders and Allies, a Deal will be made, which will be very acceptable to the United States of America, as well as all Countries in the Middle East, and beyond. This Deal will include, importantly, NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS FOR IRAN! Based on my respect for the above mentioned Leaders, I have instructed Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, The Chairman of The Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Daniel Caine, and The United States Military, that we will NOT be doing the scheduled attack of Iran tomorrow, but have further instructed them to be prepared to go forward with a full, large scale assault of Iran, on a moment’s notice, in the event that an acceptable Deal is not reached. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP
Women underestimate how difficult it is for men to amass & sustain high levels of wealth. The painful grind required to get there changes the man.
Women think those men should also magically be super charismatic & fun and are let down that they’re not sufficiently entertaining.
There’s a reason President Trump is respected by world leaders, and it’s because he’s consistently shown a level of strength that we haven’t seen from our Commander in Chief in modern history.
Everyone who is up in arms about Trump "kissing Xi's ass" needs to understand that this is realpolitik and dealmaking.
Trump is, by a mile, the most aggressive president America has had against the CCP in modern history. No one else imposed sweeping tariffs on Chinese goods, banned Huawei from domestic networks, put the entire CCP military-linked ecosystem on the entity list, restricted semiconductor exports, strengthened the Quad, and publicly called out China's currency manipulation, IP theft, forced tech transfers, and South China Sea aggression the way he did.
Pre-presidency Trump was blunt. If you recall, as a candidate, he often complained about how "China was screwing us over." Literally in 2016 on the campaign trail, he said that "China is raping us."
You need to understand that this posture completely shattered what was bipartisan elite consensus at the time - which was that more engagement with China on economic terms would liberalize and democratize China (ethnocentric projection once again), and that as China became more integrated into the global system, they would act more and more like responsible stakeholders. Every President since Nixon pushed closer economic integration while ignoring the OBVIOUS signs. This was especially supercharged under Bush, Clinton and Obama (but not Biden).
And yet at the time, the mainstream media painted him as a xenophobe for this kind of rhetoric. It wasn't even a subtext - they directly alluded to how Trump was being racist against the Chinese for calling out their unfair trade practices.
Once in office, Trump refined it into a strategy that actually moved the needle while dialing back his strong rhetoric.
The personal flattery - calling Xi a "great leader," talking up respect for China, saying they'll have a "fantastic future together," is all Machiavellian Art of the Deal stuff. Flattery costs nothing and makes the other guy more willing to give ground without looking like he's folding domestically.
The CCP's entire system is built on the leader's prestige. Publicly humiliating Xi or treating him like a subordinate would make him dig in, rally nationalists, and push him to retaliate harder just to save face.
I don't actually think Trump knows about Chinese "honor culture" and the obsession with mianzi (face), but for whatever reason, Trump instinctively understands authoritarian psychology and how to work with it.
The problem is that intellectual types, especially those steeped in liberal internationalist frameworks, tend to struggle with parsing the difference between rhetoric vs. revealed preferences. They're hard-wired to overweight the former.
They treat diplomatic language as a window into the soul, as if it maps directly onto intent rather than as front-facing tool of statecraft. China weaponizes this brilliantly.
It's a lesson everyone should've learned by now. With Trump, ignore the optics and ignore what he says. Just look at his actions, and look at his results.
***NEW: State of play this evening***
Keir Starmer has defied all expectations, surviving the day despite some 90 Labour MPs calling for his head and four junior ministerial resignations.
A minister tells Bloomberg they are astonished Starmer has managed to get through it without being forced to announce a timetable for his departure, saying the day went better for him than anyone can have imagined.
Starmer’s stance at cabinet effectively dared his rivals to come out and publicly challenge him. As of this evening, no one has.
Streeting is speaking with Starmer tomorrow morning, as per @steven_swinford, after the PM blanked him post-cabinet. The health secretary’s allies say he won’t say anything to distract from the king’s speech.
Labour MPs and aides think Streeting is conducting what one calls a campaign of attrition against Starmer by drip-feeding his supporters’ calls for the PM to go. His camp deny he is orchestrating a plot.
Streeting’s supporters say they are divided about his strategy. Some are disappointed he has not yet gone over the top, fearing he could be seen as losing his nerve and being labelled a bottle job.
However, others caution that pressure has to grow organically on Starmer before Streeting is able to challenge him, otherwise the soft-left will accuse him of a cynical move to force a contest before Andy Burnham is ready.
One Streeting supporter says they fear his chances of becoming PM are decreasing. They say they’re struggling to see how he has a path to No10 because if he runs the soft-left will put someone up against him who is likely to be favoured by members.
They say they’re coming to terms with what they see as the likelihood that Burnham will succeed Starmer.
However so far Burnham is also still silent. He’s in London meeting MPs and discussing his options. His camp insist he has a plan to make it to parliament, but so far they’ve stopped short of announcing it.
Labour is in a state of paralysis tonight. David Lammy says no one has come forward and no one seems to have the numbers against Starmer.
Most in Labour don’t expect that to hold. They still think the PM will be forced to announce a timetable in the coming days if Streeting, Burnham and the cabinet move. But as of right now, he clings on.

State of play 22:30 with @EllenAMilligan
— Keir Starmer faces the decision of whether to resign as prime minister tomorrow after more than 70 Labour MPs and Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood called for him to quit. He looks to be losing his fight to stay in power.
— There is some dispute as to what other cabinet ministers like Yvette Cooper told Starmer privately today. It seems most others delivered more nuanced messages. Loyalists like Richard Hermer and Steve Reed urged him to fight on.
— No10 is defiant tonight, appointing new PPSs to replace those who resigned. But the reality is it is entirely possible Starmer is forced to announce a timetable for his departure tomorrow.
— Wes Streeting has effectively challenged Starmer tonight, via his MP allies. They have attempted to force what they call a “swift” and “rapid” contest before Andy Burnham is in Parliament.
— That has caused absolute fury on the soft-left who accuse Streeting of attempting a stitch up that would give him no legitimacy. One senior figure threatens that faction of the party will take him out if he ever makes it to No10.
— All eyes are on gilts and the pound tomorrow morning. So far markets have been relatively muted. But when they open tomorrow they will be reacting to the new reality that Britain now looks likely to change its prime minister again, with no clarity on who might come next.
— Labour is in civil war tonight. Starmer’s warning in his speech this morning that Britain faces chaos if his party ousts him is being proved right already.
