What we disagree on is that DESPITE how negative this situation is, SOMETIMES exceptional people come out of it. So if everyone followed my plan of being ready before kids, the world might lose out on some exceptional people.

I probably personally will wait till I can provide emotional, financial support to my children but i still think life is the ultimate gift I got from my parents.

@i0sTaila With mortgage you have to factor in opportunity costs, inability to take financial risks, costs of repairs in the 25 years and market conditions at time of sale, then inflation. Those factors alone can see you turn a loss from owning property - being devils advocate.
