Parents — Real Talk: The "reason" she can't get better is actually the map for how she gets better.

• "We don’t have a field today." → Good. Work on bad ball hops in the driveway.
• "I’m recovering from a minor strain." → Good. Watch some video of your at bats or training videos
• "The pitcher was so slow." → Good. Text your hitting coach now and ask if you can work on timing and change ups next.

The Hard Truth: Most players see a closed gate and turn around. Elite players see a closed gate and learn how to climb.

The obstacle isn't in the way. The obstacle is the way. Whatever is stopping her right now is exactly what she needs to master to get to the next level.

Parents — Real Talk:
If she learns to blame the umpire, coach, pitch calling, etc. today, she will learn to blame her boss tomorrow.

In softball, it’s easy to find a scapegoat:
• "The strike zone was inconsistent."
• "The coach has favorites."

The Hard Truth: If it is softball related, it is her responsibility. Period.

When you allow your player to point fingers at external factors, you are teaching her that she is a victim of her circumstances. Elite players don’t have time for excuses because they are too busy finding solutions.

The Equation:
Excuses = Stagnation.
Ownership = Growth.

Next time she strikes out or gets benched, don't support the excuse. Tell your player to find a mirror.
• Did I hit 4x’s last week in the cage?
• Did I attend all the optional practices and tournaments in the offseason?

Execute Today: Stop the "venting" sessions in the car rides home. Replace "The umpire was bad" with "How do I prepare, put in the work and make sure that doesn’t happen again?"
