The Eyes of Ghana is a 90-minute documentary directed by Ben Proudfoot, with Barack and Michelle Obama as executive producers through Higher Ground Productions.
The story centres on Chris Hesse, Kwame Nkrumah’s personal cameraman. Hesse filmed Ghana’s independence era, Nkrumah’s leadership and the wider African liberation movement. Following the 1966 coup, much of this footage disappeared from public view. This documentary follows his effort, in his nineties, to recover and return an archive of more than 1,300 film reels.
A central figure is Ghanaian filmmaker Anita Afonu, who is also a producer. She works with Hesse to bring this history to a younger generation, including through an intended public screening at the Rex cinema (does it still exist) in Accra. This gives the documentary both a historical story and a personal one: an elderly filmmaker passing his life’s work to someone determined to preserve it.
Its significance goes beyond Nkrumah. It raises the question of who preserves and gets to tell Ghana’s history. The footage offers a Ghanaian perspective on independence and Pan-African ambition, alongside a portrait of the people who recorded those events.
@NagyaMensah The guy mentioned the name of a radio/TV station and the host . I have personally watched that programme. And everyone knows who that radio station and journalist aliens with. Before you get angry with his reaction the other people should cease their attack too. Thank you
During the 2020 campaign, H.E. President John Mahama criticised the appointment of individuals perceived to be NPP sympathisers to the Electoral Commission.
If it was wrong then, it is certainly wrong today.
Is this the best course for our democracy?
Is this the RESET ?
@MavisAgyeiwaay1 Mr Jon is a shameless hippocrate and shows signs of inferiority complex. His behaviour depicts an alcoholic who sees everything wrong with alcohol when he has no money to drink but forgets about everything wrong with alcohol immediately he gets money to buy it.
🚨📲| Ronaldo liked Felipe Melo’s post:
“I see more respect for Cristiano from opponents. Højlund seemed more affected by his situation than Portugal’s captain.
NO ONE reaches Cristiano’s level. You can’t let the best player in history leave like that.” https://t.co/QfsDZZYqcA
Honestly, she is a nice woman, I admire her just like my own Mom but the stupid @KevinEkowTaylor has brought so much hatred upon this innocent and noble woman.
