@MorosKostas All this, again, almost overnight, without what I would call a naturally evolving environment in which FFL's have time to adapt and restructure, rather than dumping their employees and retail location ... or quick switching over to being Party Stores.

@MorosKostas So there is a great discomfort, even the sense of attack on an entire business segment. If this goes and takes hold, in places other than states that won't permit it, an FFL won't survive without having a shooting range as part of their brick and mortar.

@MorosKostas Circling back for a little context. After being on the frontlines for decades supporting the industry, the "Amazon for Guns" does threaten brick and mortar FFL's. Now the internet did the same with unregulated retail, but it took several decades, not practically overnight.

@MorosKostas There is also a safety aspect. We ask then if they know what they are buying and if they know how to use it. Many times we'll put them in something else more suitable, we'll walk them through the firearm, and we'll get them hooked up with proper training.

@MorosKostas They come in today and do it under in house audio/video recording, which captures the buyer and anyone "helping" them, which a video call won't. We are the last true line of defense.

@MorosKostas It's impossible to explain unless you've spent time on the other side of a gun counter. Certainly not in an X post. Maybe those at the gun store(s) you frequent can enlighten. Face-to-face human interaction is dynamic. You gain a sense for when things don't appear right.

@MorosKostas As an FFL, I see it as a cumbersome process that will have limited benefit and practicality except for remote rural and home bound disabled people. While the fear factor has been overplayed, you'll weed out and decline sales to people in person much better than on a video call.
