Replacing manual attendance, Project Chetak, BRO has introduced rugged biometric systems tailor-made for BRO—enabling authenticated attendance, real-time deployment visibility and faster reporting, giving Commanders a reliable picture of manpower availability for timely planning and informed decisions.

Deployed across 1,200 km of frontage in Punjab & Rajasthan, the systems cover 2,000 personnel, overcoming dispersed locations, difficult terrain and connectivity challenges.

The initiative of DGBR is now being extended across BRO, bringing technology-enabled manpower management to formations and field teams across the organisation.

Even at the last mile, BRO is not leaving technology behind.

Following a heavy landslide at Kulagad on 19 Aug 2026, a 180-ft Bailey Bridge collapsed, disrupting connectivity to remote border villages in the Kumaon region and affecting Kailash Mansarowar Yatra pilgrims and local commuters.

765 BRTF, Project HIRAK, swiftly mobilised teams and worked round the clock. A temporary crossing was constructed, restoring vital connectivity in this strategic area in a time-bound manner.

When the road is challenged, #BROIndia rises to the occasion.

🇮🇳 A New Passage Through the Kalidhar Range!

On #IndependenceDay2026, the 2,790-metre-long Sungal Tunnel, constructed by BRO, was opened to traffic—marking a significant milestone in strengthening strategic connectivity across the Kalidhar Range.

Initially opened for Light Motor Vehicles during daylight hours, the tunnel will progressively facilitate movement of all vehicles and round-the-clock traffic as operations are expanded.

A testament to BRO’s resolve to connect the nation’s frontiers through challenging terrain. 🇮🇳

The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from BRO personnel, security forces and citizens, echoing “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram”—celebrating unity, pride and love for the Nation. 🇮🇳
