Air Space at Doncaster Sheffield Airport
As we all know City of Doncaster Council have a 125 year lease for the airport site along with some development land along the perimeter fence (dsa04)
The Procurement Process is ongoing and very close to competition, There are 2 candidates for the position of operator who are finalising their business plans for submission to CDC who will make the choice this summer.
We have had a press release from 2Excel who have announced their full support for cdc and Dsa and who wish to move there operations back to Doncaster.
TUI UK have also indicated that they would like to return to DSA when operational
Since CDC announced the lease agreements, a significant number of enquiries have been made by businesses looking at the airport and surrounding development potential available.
The next obstacle we must have is the matter of the Airspace.
The secretary of state for transport called in the decision for the airspace some time ago stopping the CAA from closing the airspace or dividing between other airports.
This was done to enable the process being carried out by CDC to reopen DSA. With the current elections ongoing the decision regarding DSA Airspace may have to wait until the election is complete. The ministers involved were contacted last week and Doncaster Council are in constant dialogue with the CAA.
We need to do our bit to encourage the CAA to make the decision we need where the airspace is reinstated as it was before the closure in November 2022, with no changes or operating restrictions.
In a previous post I asked if we could contact the CAA to ask for their cooperation and I provided a template if needed and the email address
I have now set up a Change dot org petition to encourage the CAA to make the right decision for DSA To enable a timely reopening.
