The contradiction is stark. The UK banned conventional cages in 2012, and the Government now intends to ban colony cages as well β yet conventional caged eggs are still allowed to be imported. If we are serious about animal welfare, there should be no imports permitted that do not meet the same standards UK farmers are required to produce to
