We are thrilled to share the amazing feedbacks from our recent AI Journalism Fellowship session with @Jasishana on "Creating Impactful Visuals with AI."
This session was packed with valuable insights, tools, and practical applications that our fellows found immensely beneficial. Fellows’ Feedback below:
Katherine ILONA:
"The session met my expectations because I was able to learn some of the tools that can help for image generation for the newsroom and for storytelling in journalism. I found the aspect that helps us to use texts to generate images, videos, as well as audios valuable. My takeaway is that we should never be afraid of using AI in our journalism journey. Consistent use of the AI will enhance easy mastery and keep us away from the fear of losing our job and better position us ahead of others and guarantee our job."
Ali Isa Musa:
"The session met my expectations, especially the tools the facilitator mentioned. Moreover, the aspect of collaboration workflows on Canva Teams and how that can easily be integrated into newsroom activities were valuable for me. My major takeaway is that now I can use Gamma AI Tool to convert text into hyper-realistic presentations in the shortest possible time. Usually, creating presentations with other tools takes hours."
We are excited about the potential these insights and tools bring to our fellows and their future work. Stay tuned for more updates from our AI Journalism Fellowship as we continue to explore innovative ways to enhance journalism with AI.

FactCheckAfrica, through our AI Journalism Fellowship program, is seamlessly integrating #AI into #journalism in a way that enhances, rather than replaces human efforts.
The incredible insights and experiences of our Fellows over the past weeks highlight the real-time value and transformative impact of the fellowship. We are proud of their growth and commitment to ethical journalism in #Africa. As we begin a new week, we’re thrilled to share the incredible feedback we’ve recently received:
"I was scared of AI before the fellowship because of its negative impacts. But now, I've learned that AI would not take away my job as a journalist, but a journalist using AI efficiently can." —@c_jennycee, News Reporter, Nigeria
"My impression of AI before the fellowship was that it's a good thing, but now, I'm convinced of how it can be used to help journalists. AI answers journalism questions in everything and has practical solutions. However, my takeaway is that, as journalists using AI, we need to remain ethical." —Esther Otto, Broadcaster, Cameroon
"Before the fellowship, I had very little value for AI, but now I'm excited to learn more about it. Thus far, my takeaway has been to grow with it and ensure it is used ethically at all times." —Anamboh Carrey Pride, News Reporter, Niger
"Before the AI fellowship, I did not think that AI was a necessary technology tool for journalists. However, from the session my takeaway has been to ensure that while using it, we shouldn't rely on it for content creation. Instead, we should make sure that independent research and investigation are done." —@mrsLawanson, Media Relations Director, Nigeria
"Before the fellowship, I had a negative impression about the use of AI. In my country and from the work I do, the majority of the content I came across and verified were all disinformation and misinformation. But from this fellowship, I can safely say that my impression of AI is now positive because it is a useful tool that researchers and journalists can use to make their work easier..." —@JerryGaye4, News Reporter, Liberia
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue the 3-months journey!
