This week, I had the pleasure of welcoming an engaging group of students from Northwest Kidder MIddle School in Jackson to our nation’s capital. It is great to have constituent tours finally return to the People’s House.
Northwest won their season opener 50 to 44 against a tough and well coached Mason team. The game was back and forth from start to finish. The Mounties came up with some big rebounds, took care of the basketball, and made their free throws to close the game.
The #1 Predictor and Factor of Success isn't talent, title, wealth, or appearance. It's Grit. If Grit drives us then what drives Grit? Here's the answer: https://t.co/KUgJ3ImlMp
On this historic and eventful day, I have confidence that our students will find teachers tomorrow who will help them think critically about the responsibilities and behaviors of citizens in our democracy. Teachers have always helped students navigate history.
As a building leader, coach, and parent of four school-aged kids you share in words what my heart is feeling...thank you @docsmatthews for assuring us all “we can find our way”!
Grit? What is it? I believe it’s driven by love. Inspired by vision and purpose. Fueled by optimism and belief. Powered by faith and hope. Revived by resilience. Kept alive by stubbornness. And if we’re honest includes some fear of failure and desire to prove oneself.
For ‘20-21, we are ALL 1st year teachers, counselors, principals, assistant principals, & superintendents.
None of us have ever experienced what we are going to endure & accomplish this year.
We are all in this TOGETHER.
We’ll be our best.
