💡No one is the perfect teacher. But having been fortunate enough to observe & work with many teachers throughout my career, there are certain traits/strengths I've noticed in those who seem to do the job very well. Here are some reflections about the key features I've noticed:

I've been teaching secondary English for 15 years and it's only since my daughter started school that I realise there is nothing which compares to the explosive, exponential rate of learning which happens in the first 4 years of Primary as she learns to read. It's life defining.

As we come to the end of the year we shouldn’t underestimate what an achievement that is for our children. The first full year at school in 3 years. I think that’s a big thing and although the impact of covid is still very much there we should be so, so proud of them all.

We didn’t even have a staff room. We sat on our own, in an unused classroom. Then, we disinfected everything we had touched before the next member of the team could come in.
