Grade 3/4 class tweeting about what we are learning in school, what we’re reading and making connections with authors and other classrooms around the world.
@cmcdavid97 we know you are very busy, but would you be willing to connect w/ our gr 4 class to talk about the mental & emotional qualities that make a good athlete & teammate? How does a prof athlete stay healthy mentally & be well rounded? We would LOVE to hear from you?
@mrsfclass Thank you so much for participating in #ourfoodhasastory contest for #Agmonth18. We enjoyed all the stories you shared with us! https://t.co/KuGV0PqR78 post was the winning post, please private message @FarmFoodCareSK
Our farm has been around since 1940. We raise beef cattle and grow crops such as wheat, oats, canola, barley & corn for the cows. We feed our cows hay, silage, oats and canola. #ourfoodhasastory
My baba grows potatoes. We make perogies, potato soup, baked potatoes & hash browns. I help plant & pick her garden. My least favourite part is weeding! I love to mash and eat the potatoes for supper and making perogies for the fall supper every year! #ourfoodhasastory
Don’t think my mom doesn’t play a role in harvest. She has to come home from work each day and make supper, then serves it in the field. Our grain is shipped to Wyoming every winter. #ourfoodhasastory
We are organic farmers. That means we don’t put chemicals on our crop. Being organic means one less thing, we don’t spray the crops. My dad plants 1/2 of his land and weeds the other 1/2 with the cultivator. Dad usually needs to hire someone to help combine. #ourfoodhasastory
Our farm was built in 1922. It is almost 100 years old. I used to have a horse named Banjo, but we do not eat him! We have sheep and we are growing our herd. #ourfoodhasastory
I live on my dads family farm. It has been in our family for over 100 years. I like to help mom plant and take care of our pumpkin patch. The best part is the harvest when we start baking. Yum! Pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread are my favourite. #ourfoodhasastory
On our farm we have pigs and chickens. They provide eggs, sausage and bacon. My dad also makes ham, ribs and pork chops. We trade eggs for honey with our neighbours. My mom makes the best jam from berries I pick from our tree. #ourfoodhasastory
I live on a grain farm. We also raise chickens. They lay eggs they I gather and my mom cooks the eggs for us to eat. We use the egg shells in the garden to help grow vegetables. #ourfoodhasastory
On our farm we raise pigs to provide food for ourselves and other families. On my aunties farm, they raise laying chickens to provide food for themselves and other families. #ourfoodhasastory
I am in 4H. You pick a cow that looks healthy. Then you raise it & be out there every morning to feed it so your animal grows big and fat to produce more meat. Then you sell your animal to the food market. This is when I get to eat my favourite food - steak! #ourfoodhasastory
My grandparents had a dairy farm. They are 2nd generation dairy farmers. They milked 40 cows twice a day for 365 days a year. They sold their milk to the milk board who sell and package the products. #ourfoodhasastory
My dad and his family moved from town to the farm. They had cattle and pigs. They raised the animals to sell and eat. This is how my dad started to love farming. My dad helped my grandpa. This is his combine. He is safe. #ourfoodhasastory
Our friend has a variety and types of fruits and vegetables. So every year she shares with us some squash from her garden. This started from squash seeds ! Yum!! Spaghetti squash is dekicious! #ourfoodhasastory
