A PSA since my account is new and I'm just getting started: please understand 1) I don't take anything I post on X seriously bc life is short and I'm probably running on 4 hours sleep; it's just a bit of fun for me, and 2) the fun will be minimal if you take my posts literally.
Did you know that the collective noun for ducks on the ground is a Waddling?! Sometimes the English language just gets it right. This was one of those moments when I felt like I'd stepped from the Peak District lane and right into the pages of a Beatrix Potter book, watching this lovely waddling of ducks enjoying the sunshine and flowers.
This image is featured in my hardback book of photographs and words, 'A Quiet Light'. It's 152 pages of Peak District beauty, arranged seasonally, printed on the highest quality paper, perfect to dip into whenever you need a little countryside calm. Priced at £24.95 + UK P&P.

Had to add about twenty more feet to the garden to make room for the pumpkin patch. October will be such a treat if the chipmunks would stop stealing the seeds! 🤣
In good news, I've been collecting jars for preserving once the fruit and veg come in. There was a swap after church today and I got two dozen jars for almost nothing!
@sarie_gamgee Now I'm interested to know what your cicadas sound like! Our cicadas are THE summer soundtrack. They make their drone-like sound all summer long. When they stop closer to autumn, it's quite jarring.
@sarie_gamgee Experiencing the sounds of spring is a joyous moment, especially if it has been a long, brutal winter. I looked up bee-eaters and they're such beautiful birds.
Taking the first tiny steps toward starting my own bookshop. Soon, I'll be listing some used books for sale online. I've been scouring thrift stores and garage sales for books to rehome. I'll have a 'storefront' on a platform in the next few weeks!
@audreyhallsenal Audrey was the first person I thought of when I saw it! It would definitely sit on a shelf. I don't think I'd want to risk damaging it for my voracious tea habit. 🤣
I noticed a new hummingbird visitor to the feeder. Also, the vegetables in the garden have, for the most part, broken through the ground. The tomato plants, especially, are coming along quite nicely.
@closer2fine@dmfa1991@Followhernerdi1 Audrey deserves to be pampered and have a girl squad around her cheering her on and giving her the love she gives so freely to others
