When a student loan is canceled, Treasury stops collecting principal & interest on it. That’s it. Nothing else happens and it has no discernible effect on anyone other than the borrower having more money to spend, save or invest. NO ONE ELSE PAYS FOR IT. Not you. Not me. NO ONE.
Wanted to share some additional thoughts about the tragedy at Hazelwood East High School, where a child's head was beaten into concrete during a fight. Many are wondering what produced the rage inside the other child. Why did the fight escalate to such a barbaric level?
Victimhood produces rage and animus. It's a cancer of the mind. Modern American culture preaches and rewards the victimhood mentality. It's a lucrative and effective tool to seize power. It's antithetical to Christ's life and tenets of Christian faith. Choosing Christ is choosing victory. We can achieve all things through Christ who strengthens us.
We no longer teach that as a society. We teach victimhood and grievance. Our young people are more callous and savage than previous generations because we've convinced them they're all victims of sexism, racism, homophobia, Islamaphobia, fat-shaming, transphobia, poverty, pronoun injustice, you-name-it, etc. They're all owed a debt. Unpaid debts foment anger.
I've been poor. Me and my father shared a 400-square foot, one-bedroom apartment in the 'hood in 1984-85. While captain of my high school football team, I slept on a couch and ate a lot of canned tuna and fast food. I was never angry. In fact, I was happy. I didn't dwell much on our situation. I wasn't a victim. I had two parents who cared about me (my parents were divorced and my mother moved to Kansas City with her factory job) and I had a belief that things would get better. God was on my side.
Poverty does not produce rage. A victim mentality, a lack of hope, the belief that the world owes you a debt, and the absence of parental love produce an endless supply of rage.
The causes of what is ailing our children are obvious. It's the absence of a heavenly Father and an earthly Father. Those two fathers are the cure for the cancer of victimhood. It's really that simple.
We should not be surprised by the savagery we're seeing from young people, whether it be school shootings or schoolyard fights. We've poisoned the minds of children. We feed them a steady diet of video game violence, movie and TV violence, rap violence. Our schools tell them the suffering and sacrifice of our ancestors did not produce a better world. No. The errors of the past are unforgivable and the life sacrifices to atone for those errors are woefully insufficient. Retribution (vengeance) and reparations (debt) are the only adequate solutions.
The solutions are antithetical to Christianity. They lead to rage and destruction. They lead to little girls beating each other into comas and insane adults shrugging it all off as an inevitable consequence of kids fighting.
Victimhood is a mental disease.
I sadly understand more and more why my daughter with a now 4.9 GPA and 1450 on her SAT was 'waitlisted' at @UVA.
Forget she was three months early and almost didn't make it.
Forget she was on an IEP for two years.
Forget that EVERYTHING SHE HAS ACHEIVED she has worked hard for. Hours and hours of homework and studying and pushing herself ...
But she's somehow privileged in all of that.
These horrible people, these racist, awful human beings are punishing her for her skin color. And they feel virtuous and self-righteous doing it.
Good morning ☀️ #TeamSanity
Modern day Conservatism is defined by seven guiding principles. Let’s take a look at what they are and a brief summary of each one.
1. Individual Freedom- All of us are created equal with God given inherent freedom. We have the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Government’s only job is to secure these rights and increase the liberties of its people.
2Limited Government- to achieve individual liberty, government must be small in size, efficient and effective. It’s put in place to serve the people not to encroach on our rights. Federalism and decentralized authority, were put in place to prevent over reach by the federal government.
3The Rule of Law - The rule of law is America’s foundation. To maintain a civilized society justice must be administered equally and impartial to all. Government must adhere to the constitution and congress must perform its responsibility of oversight.
4Peace through Strength- The first job of the Federal Government is to provide common defense of the United States. This is done by securing our borders, protecting our homeland, and our strategic interests abroad.
5Fiscal responsibility - Congress is responsible for spending and ensuring accountability and bringing spending under control. Balancing the federal budget. keeping and to keep entitlements at a minimum. Eliminate fraud, waste, and abuse.
6Free Markets - Allowing innovation and economic development, by governments getting out of the way. Letting the public sector make the decisions of what businesses they want to spend their money on.
7 Human Dignity- being created in the image of god, means every life has value. A just government protects life and honors family. It embraces religion and morality. Public policy should encourage education, hard work, and limit public assistance to those truly in need.
In writing these principles, I began to realize how far we have moved away from these principles, in our current leadership and culture. How do we move towards what our founders had in mind? How do we implement the change needed, to bring these principles to actual government? How do we start to win elections, by teaching and living by these principles?
Tomorrow and in the next couple of days, let’s break down each principle individually, and see if and how it’s being implemented today.
Have a good Saturday!

Thank you @yankees_28th and @PatrickAmor2024 for helping @TeamDeSantis. These guys traveled to Iowa (on their own dime) because they know this is the most important election of our generation. They understand now is not the time to sit back and hope all goes well. Now is necessary for We The People to RISE UP and join the fight.
✔️ Talk is Cheap.
✔️ Action is Everything.
✔️ The Future is Now!
👉 And that's why I am supporting @RonDeSantis for POTUS.

In most cases, your life is screwed up because you're making bad choices. The answer is to stop making those choices. If you don't stop making them, your problems will continue. And that's really all there is to be said about it. Therapy quickly becomes an excuse to avoid actually doing the things you know you need to do.
One of the problems with therapy is that the source of your troubles in life is almost never some deep complex thing that you need years of therapy to uncover and understand. Any random dude on the street could listen to you whine for five minutes and tell you exactly what your problem is. But if therapists gave simple answers, they'd be out of a job. They need to keep you there and talking. That's the whole business model.
After having 24 hrs to digest what happened at Iowa caucus, through listening to opinions of others deeply involved in the process and through reflecting on the scriptures and my own prayers, I have these additional thoughts.
1. I am not going to hide my frustration. This is Iowa, where the caucus is known to be able to defy the manipulation of polls to select the most ideologically conservative candidate. Here we had Ron DeSantis, who had the best conservative bona fide demonstrated by records of over 10 years in elected office, the best executive competence proven by trophies confronting Covidstan, CRT, CCP, corporate wokeism as governor of FL, the best personal example of Christian characters. Here we had the format most suitable for a candidate who has put in the most hard work to develop a ground game. And yet, still 50% of the caucus goers chose a candidate who was best at theatrics, whining, and insults. The Evangelical movement has fallen into churches of Pergamum, Thyatira and Sardis. Unless those who are called “people of God” first repent, judgment will come swiftly.
2. I am not going to offer campaign pontifications. First of all, I am very green to the political process. And things have definitely happened in ways totally different from common sense. There must be greater powers at work. While part of the reason I jumped off the Trump train was realizing that he has no path in winning in general election and will end up being a millstone on the neck of GOP dragging down every down ballot candidate, it was more because of his total disregard for truth -- There is no way to win God’s battle when we side with a liar. This was made abundantly obvious when contrasted to the characters that Ron DeSantis has demonstrated throughout the campaign. Therefore, I will trust what Ron DeSantis decided as far as campaign strategies go, as long as he stays true to his conviction and characters.
3. I am not going to change my determination. I will continue to support Gov. DeSantis’ campaign with my little feeble strength. Again, it is directed more by faith in God than by faith in the process or people’s will. Iowa caucus already shown us how desperately wicked human hearts are. So while faith direct us to fervently pray (I have often failed at that) for God’s mercy on our nation by way of intervening in the election, I also trust that even if His answer is a no, or not now, I will continue doing what I believe to be right according to His revealed will. This is the greatest action of faith, doing what we can the right way, with our best effort, while trusting the outcome to God, or, “let the chips fall where they may”, as Ron DeSantis would say.
4. I am going to send a caution, to my Trump supporting friends – this is specific to how they celebrated when the media’s interference confirmed their own bias, or potentially helped their man. The media has done wickedly, and should be called out for doing so, regardless of whether it helped your team, or changed the outcome. They called the result before majority of the voters even had a chance to listen to the argument, let alone vote. The media conspired together to test run this interference, and Trump’s team consented, even if by default. Come Nov. they will have no argument against another media interference which I am quite sure will happen again.
There isn’t a culture problem at FSU.
There’s a culture problem with the powers-that-be, talking heads, & those that benefit from a 12-1 #8 Bama making it into the @CFBPlayoff over a #4 undefeated ACC champ @FSUFootball
If you choose to turn a blind eye, you’re the problem.
BOOKMARK THIS POST (ADJUSTMENT): @RonDeSantis WILL WIN IOWA BY OVER 20 POINTS! I posted on January 2nd, that Ron would win by over 15. I am changing it to over 20 points based upon the reality on the ground/recent developments. Haley will get less than 11%.
Five Helps for the New Year given one year by Bishop Michael Ramsey to his clergy (2015):
1. Thank God. Often and always. Thank him carefully and wonderingly for your continuing privileges and for every experience of his goodness. Thankfulness is a soil in which pride does not easily grow.
2. Take care about confession of your sins. As time passes the habit of being critical about people and things grows more than each of us realize. ...[He then gently commends the practice of sacramental confession].
3. Be ready to accept humiliations. They can hurt terribly but they can help to keep you humble. [Whether trivial or big, accept them he says.] All these can be so many chances to be a little nearer to our Lord. There is nothing to fear, if you are near to the Lord and in his hands.
4. Do not worry about status. There is only one status that Our Lord bids us be concerned with, and that is our proximity to Him. "If a man serve me, let him follow me, and where I am there also shall my servant be". (John 12:26) That is our status; to be near our Lord wherever He may ask us to go with him.
5. Use your sense of humour. Laugh at things, laugh at the absurdities of life, laugh at yourself.
Through the year people will thank God for you. And let the reason for their thankfulness be not just that you were a person whom they liked or loved but because you made God real to them.
@Sachinettiyil I listened to BIY last year and CIY this year. I'm a big fan of Fr Mike - in fact, I want to go up to Duluth and hear him say mass! He's so funny, smart, humble, convicted, 'common-sensible', and maybe even a little goofy! He makes me proud and happy to be a Catholic!
Don’t GAF what anyone says…proud of my team!
The kids that went out and competed..we Noles applaud you! Those that chose to sit out or were injured, we understand!
To UGA…no reason not to play like you did tonight. Congrats on the W.
To CFP Committee and ESPN…🖕🏼

If you’re having a hard time understanding the opt outs, just imagine outperforming everyone in your office, but at the end of the year, the raise and promotion goes to the CEOs brother. Then they ask you why you won’t stay late without overtime pay anymore.
This is absolute nonsense.
The difference is that UGA lost its last game and didn’t want to finish with that bad taste in their mouth. They wanted to “redeem themselves.”
FSU battled & won every game & then was told it meant nothing. No more left to prove.
