It’s a wrap for Summer Language Institute @KISD_Multling
Thank you to all of you for making the program great for students of course our team @Phoebria@zasilep @dr_phlegm planning behind the scenes & @Kathy_Vergara2 for providing experiences for students!
We love what we do!
Completely amazed & absolutely impressed by the pure passion, talent & excitement our students displayed during @KleinISD Innovation Challenge Day of Design! Ready to see how these students will continue innovating to solve problems & positively impact our world! #KleinInnovates
From @KleinHigh Pharmacy Tech students getting hands-on in their Mock Pharmacy (funded by @kleinfoundation grant!) to A&P students peering into microscopes (they will earn college credit to go toward their Associate Degree!), District Dashers saw SO many incredible things today!
"In the absence of learning, teaching did not take place. To say, 'I taught the student, but s/he did not learn' is the equivalent of saying, 'I sold the product to the client but s/he did not buy it.'" Indeed! From the brilliant Gary Germann (1999).
“All children, when supported with effective education, can achieve at high levels.” – Commissioner Morath
Congratulations to the students, educators, and staff of @NitschKISD in @KleinISD on a well-deserved A rating!

This principal @Bubaggie1 is shining today during the press conference with TEA Commisioner @MikeMorath 🤩 We are so proud of all our @KleinISD campuses & @NitschKISD for their growth for our kids. 🥳 Come to @KleinISD to be apart of high expectations & high performance! 😀
We are SO proud of all @KleinISD campuses & @NitschKISD for their recognition in their HUGE gains for kids. 🥳 They worked so hard these past few years & we are beaming with smiles for our fellow #KleinFamily. 😎❤️
Had a fun time teaching children to build circuits...( they actually taught ME) What a memorable day!! The kids had so much fun through all the stations, that's all they could talk about...animals, crafts, read aloud, and BOOKS! #NitschLit
@right2readproj The greatest crime of workshop model, and there are many, is it created a generation of teachers who believe that basic, direct instruction done by the teacher as the only expert in the room is antithetical to good teaching. Quite literally, teachers no longer know how to teach.
When I graduated teacher-prep I'd developed a real fear of doing too much teaching. Engrained in my brain phrases like, "minimize teacher talk" and "the importance of keeping mini-lessons mini."
I blew my mind to hear Anita Archer say, "Let's keep the 'teach' in TEACHER"
Super proud of our students and staff! Despite our lights going out this afternoon (the generator kept essentials on), the campus was NOT phased, and the learning continued in EVERY grade level. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 #Better
Some students go an entire day at school without anyone saying their name.
Be the adult who speaks to each student by name.
Everyone loves to hear their name.
On annotation...
If you read my tweet yesterday on strategies, it may not surprise you that I have thoughts on annotation.
This morning I got up thinking about annotation--a solid strategy that is sometimes taught to be taught (and you know my thoughts on that)
