@petergates3 @Arithmaticks From what I've seen of teaching so far, teachers are under too much pressure to take responsibility for things they have no real influence over. Although, time and again they are expected to do exactly that, even by their own conscience.

Having such a hard time at school since half term. Feeling like rubbish because of constant criticism about lessons and behaviour mgmt. Now been asked to shield by DOH for 2 weeks. Wondering if teaching will work out for me...

@mathsjem Thanks Jo. After taking to one of the NQTs in the department, I decided to set a true/false question on misconceptions around index notation. Will be delivering it in class tomorrow. These questions look great and will keep them for later.

What should a starter for a lesson on indices for Year 9 include? What are the topics/ prerequisite knowledge that students should be tested on? Any ideas about the sort of activity too?

@MissFullerMaths 2 inset days followed by 2 observation days this week. Only seen year 7 ( newbies like me) and a GCSE resit class. Still trying to get to grips with the spectrum of 'behaviour' I need to 'manage'. Any advice?

@EllieMarshyKaye Absolutely. I started on Tuesday with inset. Today the kids started to come in. Full school will only happen on Wednesday. It's been intense and full on already .

Starting tomorrow. With inset day. Reading through policy docs today. Whatever the next few months bring, I'm ready. And grateful to the universe ❤️
