@CarlaMeyrink The smirk also from the student as well bc they know what they are doing. I refuse to play the game and give the facts. Take it or leave it, I always try to help but I have to realize many don't want the help and blame others. That's the MO. #sunchat
It's so agitating... With my own son I would NEVER think to make an excuse or use that as my "go to" response. I will always do my own observations and draw conclusions, but I would never immediately go to "well that doesn't happen at home".

@MrsPazLTMS Happens all the time... and then, even worse, sometimes I hear that the parent has complained to others about the exact same behaviour.

@susankotch It is worse when I see them every other day and try to say "well I didn't know we had a test"... It's been posted for two weeks, with a study guide and review games .... #sunchat
This one drives me crazy... I have not had one parent this year try to say that to me but the year is young.... I'm not talking about what they are doing at home. I'm talking about what they are doing in school. They are two completely different places. #sunchat
Parents are sometimes frustrating. I don't mind explaining things, or answering questions. But when I'm told "they don't do that at home", I get so frustrated. "OK, maybe not, but it's happening here. This is the heads-up call." #sunchat
@susankotch@alextvalencic Many times I tell them that in science that I'm not their ELA teacher so I'm not going to take off on larger spelling of words as long as I can phonemically sounded out and they tried.. What I will take off on is those high frequency words like "because" and "does".
#sunchat
@alextvalencic It's almost like they are afraid to fail... Or they just want to get it right the first time so they don't have to work at building those skills of problem solving for more complex problems. They just want to be "done" and move to the next thing.
#sunchat
@alextvalencic My stepdaughter is the same way as well... I dislike the amount of "well that's the best I can do, what are YOU going to do for me?" attitude... Urg... #sunchat
I'm having that problem with my 8th grade currently and their stamina to actually complete work to their honors capabilities.. I feel like I have to drag many to the finish line and am met with rolling eyes. #sunchat
Who's frustrated about lack of stamina in kids in the classroom? So difficult to get them motivated and willing to stick with something when it gets a bit challenging!
