Our class celebrated the end to an amazing school year along with @MsSiddiqi12βs class. We spent the morning outdoors with activities and delicious treats! @orioleparkjps@tdsb
Inspired by βThe Barnabus Project.β We found more secret files of failed projects from the underground lab! We created our own hybrid animals w/ our knowledge of different animals. Describing the characteristics our living things & drawing labelled diagrams. @orioleparkjps@tdsb

We are learning about non-fiction text features as we research characteristics of animals. These conventions help us find and learn new information in an easier way! So far, we can a find table of contents, labelled diagram, glossary, & headings! @orioleparkjps@tdsb
We are learning that the purpose of non-fiction texts is usually to inform. We are reading books about animals to experience many βWow, I never knew that!β moments, and to share cool new facts with our friends. @orioleparkjps@tdsb
Symmetrical Monarch butterflies! We learned about the physical characteristics of these beauties (can you spot the head, thorax & abdomen?), and noticed the warm colours and designs. Each side is a mirror image of the other. @orioleparkjps@tdsb
To help us learn about symmetry and physical characteristics of animals, we compared the appearance of Monarchs and Painted Ladies. Then we used a print-making technique to make our own symmetrical Monarchs!Stay tuned for the colour! @orioleparkjps@tdsb
This culminating task had everybody working super hard! When we put our 3-d maps together we discovered that it looked like one large city with so many goods and services, as well as a great mix of natural and human-built spaces! @orioleparkjps@tdsb
