I remember the last time we tried merit based pay. And I also remember a pay for play scandal in Atlanta, where administrators and teachers ended up losing their careers. And some received jail time.
Just pay teachers a decent wage.
@karenvaites If you build a strong primary core, you end up doing less intervention in secondary. Strong primary teachers are a requirement and just make sense.
Years ago, during a staff training on Socratic Seminars, I had a teacher tell me,
"I teach math. Not reading. This training is a waste of my time."
