@TerryVirgo So true! Morality apart from faith in what Jesus has done slides so easily into trusting in our own goodness. How futile! You may not be able to legislate morality, but God’s lavish grace teaches us to say “no” to sin!
"God Almighty has placed before me two great objects: the suppression of the Slave Trade and the Reformation of Manners."
- William Wilberforce, 28 October 1787
The good news is: He did it.
@revannek When I was growing up, if we complained about pretty much anything, my dad would say, “When I hear stories such as these, Calvary pales into insignificance.” Or the more perfunctory, “You and Polycarp.”
@TerryVirgo We are so grateful for this couple, this marriage, these lives joined and spent together serving God’s purpose! Hooray! (And, somehow, you guys look even better
than when you started! Well done!)
@TerryVirgo This verse always sets me back on my pins! It's too easy to think (and some well-meaning teachers even encourage) "Well, what would I do in such and such a circumstance? I have the 'mind' of Christ so...that's what he would do, too!" God is SO other! SO not like us! I love that!
@DavidEHolden A couple of years ago, Tim and I were visiting believers in Nepal and they had photos and were praying for Scott and Rhys-brothers they had never met but were joined to by faith. Let healing and strength pervade the Body worldwide as we celebrate this answer to our prayers!
