The night before the first day of the school year was a success with this read aloud! Excited for a year of learning, growing, and class family relationships with my second graders! ❤️
YOU can change the climate and culture of your grade level, your department, your coaching staff, your school. If you are waiting for someone else to change it, you could be waiting forever.
Grateful that many of my Ss parents gave me permission to do a surprise sign drop off. I know they will be excited to see them! I am keeping my Ss safe while letting them know I’m still here for them because our class relationships and their well-being are so important to me!❤️
Distance learning week 2 is in full swing. Learning about landforms is especially fun when creativity and food are involved! This student chose to show plains, water, and mountains in her creation! YUM! 🌎
Zoom calls with my first graders are my favorite. Seeing these Ss in their homes with their amazing, hard-working families is so rewarding! First call of the day with some of the class was wonderful! MSA, we are ready for another week of virtual learning!❤️🦉
Continue to support, celebrate & lift each other up. For some educators we have been operating virtually for a few weeks, for others being told school is closing is just coming. We will all need someone special to support & lift us up at some point along the journey!
My Ss have a creative task each day for part of their distance learning. Today’s task was to create a song or poem. This student chose to sing about her pets and she rocked it! Missing my firsties so much! ❤️
Due to COVID-19 concerns, FLDOE directs MCPS to close schools for next two weeks. Students won't return until Monday, March 30, at earliest. Stay tuned. https://t.co/qVob4Rfcay
Ss loved reading our CKLA Skills story in the dark with their partners this morning. Ss became “top secret text detectives” while searching for text evidence to refer to during their discussion about key details and author’s purpose.
MSA PTA recently purchased books to add to Mrs. King’s classroom library, & last week we received these wonderful thank you notes from her students. We are so glad they are enjoying the books! 🦉 ❤️ 📚 @MSA_Owls@mrstoccoaking
CAUTION! Students hard at work while comparing and contrasting informational texts today. Ss used their “toolbox” of vocabulary and knowledge to compare and contrast texts with a partner.
Ss found out which books were provided by a @MSA_PTA grant for our class library. These firsties love learning the new, rigorous vocabulary in the first book of “A Series of Unfortunate Events,” thanks to our awesome PTA! 🎉
