Happy Sunday! Kids having trouble learning order of ops? We waiting too long to teach them? When we do, is it all at once? Try +– in Gr 1-2, x÷ in Gr 3, mix pairs of +–x÷ in Gr 3-4, add rest in 4-6. Greg Jr's Equato puzzles are great fun: order of ops + reasoning + computations!
This was my very first attempt at teaching math the way I think about numbers. I’ve learned so much in the last 20 years but the core idea is the same. The key to arithmetic, reading, writing, problems, information, everything — break things into smaller, more manageable pieces!
Grading journals.
I love doing it.
Hate how much time it takes.
Also, need to revisit (for the 1000th time) how we stack journals when we turn them in...
I got my welcome postcards written and mailed off to all my new little fourthies! Can’t wait to love on this new group of kiddos! https://t.co/ufIiTH1zWi
Students from my first class are turning 16...😭😭😭
Also, scary. I hope their driving and navigating skills are better than finding the answer to a question in their textbook. 🙏🏼
