We’ve been working on different subtraction strategies the last couple of days. Check out the one where we only add to subtract https://t.co/EYP6mW3u7o
And Reconciliation we listened to many stories and created our own shirt designs. We are looking forward to a busy week coming up with picture day, open house and cross country meet next week. Great work this week 4-1! We’ll see each other on Monday.
Week in Review
This week we changed from 4/5-1 to 4-1 in our classroom. We learned about each other by making life maps and sharing those with our new group mates. We played some math games for place value, and worked on our rounding skills. In preparation for the Day of Truth
Week in review for our first week in 4/5-1: Pieces of my Heart, Paper Chain challenge (as a group, make the longest chain possible from only the materials provided) and some sights from around the room. Enjoy the weekend all!
Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and #OrangeShirtDay. The day's intent is to honour survivors, their families, and communities, and ensure public commemoration of the history/legacy of residential schools remains a vital component of the reconciliation process.
Introducing some place value review this week we played ‘What’s your number’. Started with S’s vs Teacher and moved to students in small groups or partners. Grade 5’s played up to the ten thousands place and 6’s played up to the Hundred Thousands place. @HDSBMath@clarksdalehdsb
A little brain challenge to start our week this week. Students started with individual planning time, group revision time and then were given 20 mins of building time. Longest chain was 4.21m! Well done 5/6-1!
