You are heading towards almost exclusively self-checkout now. Yesterday I went shopping at one such store and the lady checking receipts at the exit was stopping everyone.

I didn't choose to participate in that nonsense, I had already filled my trolly, emptied my trolly and scanned the items, refilled my trolly, and so I just skipped the exit line and left.

I heard her saying "Umm - Excuse me “ as I kept walking and raised the receipt above my head, leaving the store.

You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like it used to be.

• I'm not interested in proving that I did your job for you.

• If you want me to be a cashier with no training then that's your problem not mine.

• Keep employing young people and give them job opportunities.

Prices in the UK just feel completely made up now.

How does a weekend in England cost £700 when you can fly abroad for less?

A return train to London is £160.

The same house that rented for £600 is now £1,200.

A full tank of fuel is over £100.

Car insurance goes up 50% despite the same car, no claims and nothing changing.

£100 in the supermarket somehow gets you two bags of shopping.

And we're all just expected to accept this as normal?

We're a fucking global mess, Britain's foreign policy even in the dying days of Suez etc at least had other countries willing to have us at the table. Now we're twerking for Trump hoping and praying Scotch doesn't get tarrifs based on his Mother being a Scot. What a triumph in diplomacy that would be!

And as for Ukraine, some answer for the British people as to why we are so wedded in their support. Let's not give it the " standing up to bullies" bollocks either, there is no geopolitical or geographical reason that will need British men and women in harms way, this isn't Poland in 1939 and Britain has proven time and again that like our bastard child, the USA, we do things for material, not moral gain. Because if morality was the reason, Sir Keir or Rishi or Liz or that fat lump of hair would have banged a table somewhere in the Middle East, demanding babies yet to even have a faith or nationality not to be made into mince. So spare us " we're supporting democracy", we all know there's either a lot of money underground in the Donbass, or someone's getting paid royally via our tax money. Again.

The Commonwealth would have been a perfect way to go. Align with countries of shared history, value and language. But no, we refused to say sorry for past wrongs, let them all go and find they were listened to by China and Russia and are now telling us to fuck right off. And who can blame them.

We're an international joke. So is America. But America is richer than God, will kill you if you don't do what they want, and will shout it from the rooftops.

Britain? If we're not embarking on a generational act of self sabotage by breaking away from the world's biggest trading block, whether it's an armed force parred down to the point where we could barely invade the Isle of Man, nevermind defend Ukraine, or an economy that decided generations of making things, the best things on the planet in many cases wasn't as important as a few Cockney wide boys playing roulette in the City of London, or our mighty capital becoming the money laundering capital of the world.

We're living the choices of successive corrupt, immoral and downright thick British governments, and if we are honest, that roaring lion of Empire gave way to a baby pussycat hoping to be stroked by Uncle Sam now and again.

The Yanks couldn't give a fuck about us and we told Europe we didn't give a fuck about them.

Until someone, anyone with some idea of what patriotic, modern Britishness is, and can be, and can sell a vision that the majority can proudly get behind, all we'll have is rehashed WW2 revisionism, xenophobia, and still pining for the "Special relationship".
