What did the people celebrating on Oct 7 actually expect to happen?
Did they expect Israel to shrug and not respond??
Did they expect Israelis to say "hmmm maybe Hamas is right, Zionism is bad, let's self-dismantle"??
Like, what did they actually expect to happen???
Today I was among the journalists who have attended a private screening of the raw footage of October 7th and I want to express to you what I saw since it’s not been made public. It’s been a very heavy day. A decision was made that Jews are less than human, and treated that way in words and deeds..I now know that’s exactly the message Hamas sent on purpose — at scale. I wasn’t aware of that before. I saw bodies were burned but I did not understand or appreciate how intentional the effort was - they did it methodically, you hear it in the voices, the commands the ease, the excitement of finding and mutilating victims.
Heartbreaking: 23-year-old IDF Lieutenant Yaron Chitiz, from our community, came home last Shabbat to surprise his family after not being home for 80 days. Yesterday, he was killed in Gaza while defending the people of Israel from Hamas terrorists. The warm embrace he received upon his return last weekend now serves as a poignant last memory of him for his grieving family.
Everyone misses you already, Yaron. Your memory and heroism will forever be a blessing. 🕯️
Aid not reaching Gaza because of Hamas and UN, says Israeli spokesman
"Aid is simply not reaching the people who need it, because Hamas hijacks it and UNRWA covers up for it," Israeli government spokesman Eylon Levy said in a video conference briefing.
In 2024, more than ever, the entire world must stand firm in every way against the destructive Iranian regime and its proxies.
We must emphasize the unity and the strength of the free world, in the face of this source of evil and criminal acts of terrorism.
Thought more about this. In this nonsensical rant diminishing Western values and removing all agency from Palestinians, Shadi (completely by accident) actually got to the heart of the problem:
The problem is that Palestinians have been convinced that despite continuing violence started by them leading them nowhere, they don’t have any responsibility to compromise and accept reality. That because they are oppressed (in the view of people like Shadi), they are entitled to total victory regardless of reality.
This is what has led Palestinians to be unable to accept the reality of an Israeli state existing in that area. It is what has led Palestinian leaders to exploit the system to steal from Palestinians without taking any accountability for their circumstances.
The Palestinians feel entitled to all of the land and they keep being told if they just persist, that’s what they will get. It’s why random people in the U.S. who have never lived anywhere near Israel still talk about how the land was stolen from them whereas every other set of refugees in history, especially those that resulted from losing a war, have moved on and adapted to the reality of their present circumstances. That’s why the 900,000 Jews that were ethnically cleansed from Arab countries AFTER 1948 don’t spend their time focusing on how they get their payback/compensation, but the Palestinian Arabs are still trapped in refugee camps more focused on how they destroy Israel than how they create a prosperous society for their current generation. That’s why a majority of Palestinians supported terrorism against Jews and Israelis prior to 10/7 or the response. It’s why they support Hamas despite Hamas not caring one bit about the actual state of the Palestinian people.
So we will be stuck in this cycle until a Sadat-like leader comes along and tells the Palestinian people that they must accept the reality of Israel’s existence and then try to build a future within that reality. But there is no incentive for such a leader to come about when instead they can become billionaires by stealing never-ending aid and blame Israel for the continued poor circumstances of their own people knowing WaPo editors will prop up that delusion and blame Israel at the cost of continuing cycles of violence and poverty for the Palestinian people.
@dancohen3000 Have you seen Hamas's symbol? It's a picture of the Islamic structure built on the ruins of the Jewish temple with swords and an image of the entire land of Israel in green (future Palestine). But you're too busy trying to make Jews look like the bad guys. That's real dedication.
🚨A Gazan resident in Rafah says Hamas is responsible for the situation in Gaza, and says Hamas shoots at them and killed a Gazan resident. SHARE!!
"We hold Hamas responsible for everything that has happened in Gaza. they fired at us."
This is the same idiocy of “proportional response” and the “not enough dead Israelis/Jews” crowd.
In other words; when Hamas loses you feel it’s unfair and to that, I don’t know what to say but yeah…
