Pepper's story has brought so many people together. ❤️

Even if things are quiet right now, that doesn't mean we should stop talking about him.

Our mission hasn't changed. Keep sharing Pepper's story, help more people discover it, and show how much this little raccoon means to the community.

It's not just about solana:9g4Pib6AM3oVdP9YA7ZcssAXAuhoUzkjR8w27doYpump . It's about the story behind it.

Let's keep it alive. 🦝 #savepepper

Hi Animal Justice team (@AnimalJustice),

We’d like to bring your attention to an urgent case in Montreal involving a rescued raccoon named Pepper and her caretaker Louka Berman (@MaggotX66).

In May, Louka found Pepper (then a baby) injured by a crossbow at a construction site. He nursed her back to health and the two formed a strong bond. Pepper keeps returning when released.

Quebec’s Environment Ministry is actively trying to seize her. Louka faces charges and fears she will be euthanized if taken because of the ongoing raccoon rabies outbreak and limited sanctuary options. On October 22, wildlife officers raided his apartment. Louka and Pepper fled and are currently in hiding. They are safe for now but remain at high risk.
The Montreal SPCA has already noted the shortage of facilities that can take injured wildlife in Quebec. This case seems to highlight a broader systemic problem.

Would you consider looking into it? Legal support or public attention from Animal Justice could make a real difference for Pepper.

Thank you for the important work you do. 🙏🏼🍀

This just goes to show they won’t stop until they get Pepper. But not only that, since Louka has kept running, failing to appear and violating lawful warrants there’s a good chance that when they catch him they might actually lock him up for a bit.

Stay safe Louka. Hope you’re both able to get a good meal and rest comfortably. #savepepper

Yesterday (Oct 22) Frédéric Serre found Louka and Pepper in a secret location.
Louka had fled his Plateau apartment in only a t-shirt and shorts when six armed wildlife officers arrived to seize Pepper.

He was exhausted and freezing. Pepper was starving. Frédéric spent two hours with them, gave Louka sweatpants and a jacket, and fed Pepper.

That matches the urgent message Nicole Corrado received the same day: officers had stormed the apartment. At the time, no one knew if they’d made it out.

Today the Montreal Gazette published “The race to stop rabies from reaching Montreal” (Oct 23). It covers the largest raccoon rabies outbreak in Quebec history, with teams trapping and vaccinating just outside the city to keep it from reaching Montreal. That’s the pressure surrounding them right now.

They got away. They’re safe for the moment.
But they’re still hiding, still cold, and still one visit from the outcome Louka fears most.

They need us now more than ever. 🙏🦝

Hey @elonmusk, please help Pepper 🦝❤️

@MaggotX66 rescued her and gave her a loving home. Now they’ve both been taken by wildlife authorities.

Pepper deserves a chance. Please help make her story heard. 🙏

Behind the scenes while Louka sorts the legal stuff: I’ve spoken with Iqram (co-founder of Venmo + Jelly Jelly) and Louka so we’re all on the same page.

Jelly is offering 25% of swap fees for a period of time to help create a sanctuary for Pepper and animals like her.

We’re also looking at starting a Jelly movement with #savepepper so people can help spread the message.

Things are being put together, and just like you, I wish I knew more on what the condition of Pepper and Louka is.

Hoping for an update from Louka soon 🫶🏼

Jelly has also been rolling out more crypto trading features within the app, so hoping we can all make a difference together 🫶🏼one 🪼 swap at a time.

I think we all need to stay calm and remember why we're here.

We've come a long way with solana:9g4Pib6AM3oVdP9YA7ZcssAXAuhoUzkjR8w27doYpump , but this was never going to happen overnight.

I'm not a vegetarian. I'm not some hardcore animal activist either. But I believe an animal's life matters and deserves a chance.

The fact that we're fighting for a wildlife sanctuary in Montreal, while animals like Pepper face the possibility of being euthanized, says a lot about why this matters.

We have a community that could actually make a difference. Something much bigger than any one of us.

So let's stay patient, stay united and keep spreading Pepper's story.

If we can turn a memecoin into something that helps save animals in the real world, that's something worth fighting for.
