@BraddrofliT@Max_a_secas@AgBioWorld without your villains, these entry level skill people are just going to organize themselves and create value? They’re given a job for comp that accept and an opportunity to achieve more if they have ambition. The perpetual entry-level folks are the ones hurt by illegal immigr.
Mamdani is between a rock and a hard place. He is an AMAZING campaigner but his policies as promised will at best deliver temporary relief and minimal degradation of NYCs economy. He’s smart but without experience. He will face resistance from every angle to prevent him from causing irreversible damage to the city.
I truly believe he is genuine and wants prosperity for NYC.
So, will he stubbornly dig his heels in on the socialism fantasy ideas and harm NYC?or will he honorably accept his new understanding, eat some crow, and adopt more conservative economic policies for the betterment of his constituents?
Trump was likely genuine in his offer to help when he visited the Whitehouse last week, because he also cares about NYCs prosperity, but also is removing the potential for future blame of failure to be pointed his way because “the elites once again stand in the way and won’t let me execute the policies I wanted”.
Trump raised tariffs on Chinese imports to 125% and cut them to 10% for 75+ other countries. I ran the numbers to assess the net impact on U.S. consumers.
The China tariff hike adds ~$92B in annual trade costs. But cutting tariffs for the rest of the world removes ~$357B. Net reduction: $265B.
Last week’s policy was expected to cause a 2.3% one-time consumer inflation (price shock). After this update, the estimate drops to ~0.8%.
Net inflation is falling despite tariffs adding some price pressure in certain categories. The tariff structure is also generating billions in new tax revenue that can be used to reduce the deficit or support domestic economic progress in various ways going forward. in addition to the deflationary effect it will have by extracting excess demand out of the system.
The cumulative effects of this administration’s economic policies thus far sets the stage for returning to prosperity. Paying down debt reduces interest rate payments, which improves our balance sheet and enables incremental leverage toward progress, as an example.
This is real, sustainable policy that will drive prosperity for ALL Americans.
even the good-vibes crowd can have their grocery store and bus ride experiments delivered in the only way they understand and believe it was because of the way they voted.
@MattWalshBlog Being anti-AI creates a far worse outcome for Americans. We need to lead and capture as much global market share as possible to have the privilege of discussing how any net benefits get distributed.
I think you’re jumping to conclusions too quickly about what his effects on the economy could be over the entire term. As you pointed out, we printed insane amounts of money since 2020 and it’s a massive mountain of inflation to climb.
It’s been less than a year and he’s focused on securing the borders and international trade policy so far.
He’s just now focusing on domestic economics. Judge him on Inflation, GDP , Jobs and interest rate trajectories in a year or two. Too soon to be getting all hot and bothered IMHO, Sir!
BTW agree his interview responses were lazy and the 2k checks are just a return of lower income families inflation incurred from the tariffs
@Cernovich How else would we create value for America other than economic growth? More tax revenue, more jobs, etc.. am I misunderstanding your question?
@drmeenalviz Did she have a decoy phone because she posts negative things about the USA? What’s the phone for if not hiding something? Genuine questions
@wickedsmahttt@ryangrim@ComicDaveSmith@DouglasKMurray What argument are you referring to? He brought Murray on and he said nothing for 3 hours. He should have crushed Dave with his expertise. He did a huge disservice to the cause he’s trying to support by making people question his position. You should be mad at him
@theallinpod@LHSummers It was an acute market reaction to new uncertainty, caused by the tariff announcement. Larry was premature to make that conclusion and Chamath just wanted to demonstrate he understood markets better than Larry. I am alone here??
