A reminder that commonly abused drugs intended for use as ADHD medication are both not as addictive to folks with ADHD and are also dosed at MUCH lower levels than they are used at for abuse:
Example: 5-20mg daily for Dextroamphetamine prescription vs 200mg or higher when abused
I love this sentiment and feel similar, though I am aware of the privileges I have had that allow me to manage living with ADHD and have a more positive attitude towards it.
I finally asked about flying lessons (that took a lot of effort)!
I felt myself feeling fear and was just about to say "I'll have a think and get back to you" but instead I used my impulsive, dopamine-seeking ADHD superpowers and booked my first lesson then commited to 9 more 🤪

ADHDers! If you struggle with task initiation, I'd like to introduce you to the acronym "RAN." It stands for:
R: Rewards
A: Accountability
N: Novelty
Let's break down what each of these mean, and how to apply them to the tasks you're avoiding. 🧵✨
Impulsivity looks like:
• random large purchases
• interrupting others
• risky behavior
• binge eating
But impulsivity also looks like:
• frequently switching career paths
• oversharing personal life
• hypersexuality
• feeling energized/yelling as a result of anger
@WeAreBrisbane I imagine you do a lot of exploration with that background and your current role. Have you always felt like you “have a keen ear” for sound?
