Principal at Wilkinson School (TDSB). Sci Fi fan, RP gamer, music-lover & choir member. Passionate equity advocate. Proudly LD/Dyslexic. Tweets are my own.
@LDAToronto There never seem to be volunteer opportunities with LDATD (except to donate). I’m ADHD & LD (recently re-diagnosed). I’m also a principal. Do you ever utilize successful LD/ADHD adults? Would love to work with you to support kids. Frustrated that you only seem to want money.
@JonBurnside_DVE Why has the city removed the straight through lane at Fenside and York Mills with no consultation or notice. That intersection is the only intersection with a traffic light between Victoria Park and the DVP that allows you to leave the Roywood neighbourhood.
@JonBurnside_DVE Would love to - but I work. I’d tell you how disappointed I am by the changes to the intersection at Fenside & York Mills. Only traffic light between Victoria Park & DVP, no advanced & now we can’t go straight through. A huge impediment for those of us trying to commute east.

I had the honour of speaking this evening on behalf of retiring administrators at the 2023 @tdsb Retirement reception at the Old Mill. So incredibly grateful for this opportunity to join the other speakers in honouring & celebrating 500+ careers in public education in Toronto. 🙏

You are loved and you can be who you are in @tdsb schools.
We stand beside you, and when necessary, in front of you.
Every day.
You don’t have to hate to discriminate. Some (most?) of the ableism people with a disability experience is not overtly “hate”based, nor intentional. That doesn’t mean, however, that ableism’s impact is less or that it’s not discrimination. ♿️
Excited to host the Doan Ukulele School's UKE FEST yesterday in the Wilkinson gym. There were students from schools across the TDSB! Melanie Doan & the Uke School are amazing community partners. We loved meeting guest Molly Johnson as well! Link to their new video below!
Today we thank and acknowledge our administrative professionals. To all office and admin staff in schools, thank you for your daily work to assist and support students.
@drlindalouise I have a disability and use a computer. I also have 3 university degrees. Thank goodness my teachers in the 80s didn’t hold these views.
(Cw Ableism at school)
One thing that I rarely talk about in my work, at least publicly, is that almost every new K-12 space I’ve been in I’ve been made fun of in some way about my disability by students.
Sometimes it’s the ableist slurs, or it’s making fun of
Sweet spring @TDSBWilkinson: Anishinaabe story of maple syrup gift; discovering 'ajidamo' (squirrels) know when sap runs; maple bark rubbings; & sampling sap to take home during #Ramadan for fasting Ss. Thanks @Duncanpheasant art @DhkBeau language for supporting #outdoorlearning.
Thank you, Principal Albrecht for donating amazing prizes! Students can take over as principal for a half day or get an extra recess for their class. And for parents, how do front row seats to the graduation sound? (For those of us on the shorter side, awesome!) @ms_albrecht
Ramadan, Passover and Easter overlap only three times a century, and it’s happening now. It’s an important reminder that the similarities that bond us are far greater than our differences.
