Domestic workers are among the most essential yet often least protected workers in our societies.
As we strive to advance social justice and decent work for all, I encourage Tanzania 🇹🇿 to take a significant step forward by ratifying ILO Convention No. 189 on Decent Work for Domestic Workers.
Every domestic worker deserves dignity, fair working conditions, and access to social protection.
Rights at work should extend to every worker, everywhere.

The creative economy is one of Tanzania’s fastest-growing industries but behind every film, song, design and digital masterpiece are workers who often operate without protection, recognition or fair treatment. That must change.
The @ilo convened national stakeholders to demand better labour conditions for creatives, because talent alone cannot build a sustainable industry rights can.
Today’s creators need contracts they can trust, safe spaces to work, access to social protection, and a skills pipeline that takes them from passion to profession.
Through the @ilo Apprenticeship Programme, we’re creating exactly that structured, industry-aligned training that gives young creatives hands-on experience while protecting their rights and safety. This is not just training it’s a pathway to dignity, opportunity and long-term careers.
A fairer creative ecosystem means stronger enterprises, better jobs, and an industry that rewards creativity without compromising workers’ wellbeing. Tanzania’s creative future depends on this shift and the @ilo is committed to driving it forward.
