Canada just handed Master’s and PhD students a 'VIP Pass' for 2026.

If you have a 2:1 or even a strong 2:2, stop looking at undergraduate diplomas. As of January 1, 2026, the rules for Grad students have completely split from the rest of the pack.

The 2026 'VIP' Rules:

1. PAL Exemption: Undergrads are stuck waiting for Provincial Attestation Letters (PALs) due to the 155,000 permit cap. Master’s and PhD students are 100% EXEMPT. You can apply for your visa the moment you get your admission letter.

2. The 3-Year PGWP: Even if your Master’s program is only 1 year (12 months), you are now eligible for a 3-year Post-Graduation Work Permit. Undergrads only get a permit equal to their study length.

3. PGWP Field Freeze: IRCC just froze the eligible fields of study for 2026. If you are in Healthcare, STEM, Trades, or Agriculture, your path to a work permit is officially locked in and safe from mid-year changes.

The Reality Check (Proof of Funds):

You now need to show $22,895 CAD (approx. ₦24M) plus your first year of tuition.

My Advice: If you have the funds, skip the UK's 2026 '18-month' Graduate visa and head to Canada for the '3-year' stay.

I just found 5 Canadian Universities with NO application fees for the Fall 2026 Master's intake (Deadlines are March 15th - 30th!).
