The grade sixes are trying a new art technique today. They started by shading their papers and are using an eraser to create a picture from their imagination.
The grade six students are learning the art of designing comic strips this week. They will be creating a comic that explores some of the relevant topics happening in their lives right now. Stay tuned!
Ratio tables have been a game changer for my grade sixes. An incredibly smart way to develop mental math skills with larger number multiplication and division questions.
This morning the grade sixes are creating increasing patterns and then rolling the dice to figure out which term they need to figure out. They found out a few strategies for figuring out the term fast and accurately without completing the table of values.
We are collaborating with our grade 1 buddies this morning. They are starting their building things unit. We read the book It’s not a box and together they are transforming their box into their imaginative object.
We talked about hats on for mental health today. The grade sixes created their own models of their brains and discussed the importance of brain health. We also created a Help me box for students to let me know if they need help with something in their lives.
We had the most incredible day learning on the land at Nose Hill Park. A huge thank you to our volunteers and Mother Nature for allowing the day to go so smoothly.
The grade sixes are practicing their coordinates and plotting on a coordinate grid today while battling their opponents in a good old game of online battleship.

The grade six students are learning about the importance of timelines today. They started by creating timelines of their lives so far. Our next step will be to look at the history of flight and create a collaborative aviation timeline.
