I think kalau memang mau membawa nama TPOP, it would be nice if the event could represent different fandoms, agencies, and artists. Apalagi kalau attendees juga boleh request lagu, so naturally they would expect at least one or two of their requests to be played.
gini deh, kalau memang belum familiar sama lagu-lagu tpop non ost, there are ways to explore, whether through browsing or asking Indonesian fanbases for recommendations, kalau engga kan bisa minta rec di base or di tl, kayanya temen temen juga bakalan happy buat kasih rekomendasi kok✌️
After seeing so many people speak up about the tpop thing, I really hope we wont start labeling tpop fans as edgy, selfish, or anything along those lines just because we are voicing our concerns.
I think the concern is pretty understandable too, especially when it comes to events like tpop karaoke. There are still so many people who dont recognize or know the songs being played simply because those songs arent OSTs from series. And thats exactly why I think this conversation is worth having.
tpop is so much bigger and more diverse than just series OSTs. There are so many incredible artists, groups, soloists, producers, and songs that deserve to be discovered. Some of them may not have the same level of exposure yet, but that doesnt make their music any less worthy of being played, appreciated, or introduced to a wider audience!
And isnt that one of the fun parts of having a tpop event in the first place? It could be a space where people discover songs they have never heard before and find new artists to support!
nobody is saying that OST songs shouldnt be played either. They are part of tpop too, and of course people should enjoy the songs they love. The point is simply that the scene is incredibly wide, and it would be nice if the representation reflected that diversity as well.
So please dont take people speaking up as an attack na kubbb. We are not trying to gatekeep tpop, nor are we trying to tell everyone what they should listen to. We are just sharing our perspective as people who want to see more artists and songs get the recognition they deserve.
I hope we can take this as a chance to explore more music together 🤓🙏
