As President, I would read 10 letters a day sent to me by ordinary Americans. At the Obama Presidential Center, we’ll have some of the letters I read — and responded to — every night. I still get emotional reading them, and it’s one of my favorite exhibits.
For years, too many of our recreation facilities and pools were disinvested in. Now, we’ve changed that.
And with this budget we are going to continue to make historic investments into modernizing facilities across Baltimore.
Students at Empowerment Academy brought the stage to life with their production of “The Little Mermaid Jr.” More than 80 students in grades K-8 participated in the show, showcasing their talent, creativity, and teamwork through music, acting, and dance.

TOMORROW: Join us for the Youth Impact Jam from 5 – 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, at MRI Studios, 20 N. Howard St. This is a family-friendly showcase celebrating youth leadership, expression, and innovation across City Schools as part of Bromo Art Walk. Free entertainment will be available as well as refreshments while supplies last. The event will also include the ASCBC and the Student Commissioner Candidate Town Hall from 6 – 7 p.m.

To celebrate World Autism Awareness & Acceptance Month, Digital Harbor students visited Zoe’s Just Dezzerts, an autism-inclusive bakery in Federal Hill, with school psychologist Ms. Kiewra and school social worker Ms. Ford.
Students spoke with employees about their experiences as autistic individuals in the workforce and learned how the bakery is designed to support both staff and customers. The visit concluded with students enjoying treats and exploring the welcoming, inclusive space.
Coppin Academy welcomed Fire Chief Wallace for a visit with students. Juniors and seniors heard directly from him about service, leadership, and career pathways within the Baltimore City Fire Department.
