Back when I was an apprentice to an Efik bridal artisan, she used to make Efik outfits, so we usually visited brides’ homes to dress them up for their traditional weddings.

One particular day, my madam, another apprentice, and I went to a bride’s house. This girl showed up in a pink crop top with no bra and see-through leggings.

The moment we got there, the bride’s father refused to let her into his house. He told her to go back home, change her clothes, and return if she wanted to enter his house. The embarrassment was something else!

Honestly, I feel like she should have known better. Why would you dress like that to someone’s house, especially when you’re going there to work?
