Ended our speakers series with our county's Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit Supervisor, Ms. Filkowski. She spoke about the realities of sex and labor trafficking, importance of knowing risks and signs, and resources to support victims.

Our last unit is always the most eye opening, because we bring in guest speakers that challenge and encourage us. @lyonlearning’s friend shared the importance of sharing tools to enable ourselves and other, caring for ourselves and a community, and reforming the prison system.

Congrats to reporter Nick Harvey for being named Journalist of the Year at the Lesher newspaper awards, which honors the county's best high school journalism. Nick won the $1,000 first place scholarship. The Californian won 13 awards, including 2nd place for overall excellence.
