Hail occurs in warmer temperature. Freezing rain is in colder temperatures. Hail is when rain is carried upward to much colder temperatures during a thunderstorm and colliding with other droplets before falling.

Students found hail outside which has made us inquire into the difference between freezing rain and hail. Our hypothesis is hail starts off as freezing rain but it is the wind that binds it together. Stay tune for the answer! @IslandPublicNSS
