Building relationships is so important. I have a couple “difficult” students this year and I’m really working on building that relationship with them in hopes they will work with me easier.
2nd year of doing this activity on the first day of school and it is so beneficial! I know what my students are hoping to receive from me this school year.

I may keep changing my ways of doing things but I have successfully completely first quarter teaching 5th grade and had great parent teacher conferences this week.
Some carved and some painted but they all pulled the seeds out of their pumpkins. I was so happy to give this experience to some of my students who would have never been given the chance.
I’m very lucky to be teaching in person and honestly it all just feels like the norm now. I don’t think it’s been as hard on me as it has veteran teachers because I’m not stuck in any kind of way or system

My summer school kiddos learned about Force and built a maze for a ping pong ball to go through using the force of air. The level of engagement is always so much higher when you give them a hands on activity!
