Adun kept going back.

Each time she said she was done, she meant it. Each time she cried, she promised herself it was the last time. But somehow, one call, one apology, one familiar tone pulled her right back in.

Hurt is followed by affection, disrespect is followed by apology, and pressure is followed by small validation.

Over time, the brain begins to associate suffering with connection so leaving feels harder than staying, peace feels boring, and pain feels like home. 💔

I have always loved stories. The kind of stories that make your mind expand and wander.

As a literature scholar, I see every day how powerful stories can be. A child can read one paragraph and suddenly begin to imagine a whole world that does not even exist.
