Heard a comment yesterday that said Garvey was Jamaica’s most successful “youth leader” because he wasn’t an old man when he accomplished all he did, which made me chuckle but it’s true. Man developed a worldwide movement of millions of people, mostly without tech, in his 20s/30s
I thought it was a joke when I heard we are importing ice into Jamaica. We have some of the best potable water in the hemisphere & importing ice from Florida. Someone help me to make sense of this. Have local ice makers closed shop? Who remembers the ice factory Downtown? Then there was one near Old Harbour & several more. Those factories originally made block ice…I remember as a yute the ice truck would pass through once a week in my birth district and we would buy ice, bag and bury it in a hole and cover with saw dust. what happened to Happy Ice? Hope I got the name right.
End of year assessment: Jamaica yet to see the economic growth payout from the stream of positive reforms of the last decade. The lag between reform and growth is always long and covid set it back further. But the country remains the region's likeliest place for organic growth.
Must be one of the privately owned beaches operated by a hotel or perhaps in your own real estate portfolio. Regular Jamaicans do not have access to this — but enjoy the coconut inna your jeans on the beach. You gonna PR yourself into retirement.
just a reminder that trump is not backing project 2025 btw. That is literally never happening.
