@WK4KDZ@JSerravallo A5: give yourself TIME! This isn’t going to happen overnight! Also, continue to build their love of stories and reading above all else! #PSDRDG
3rd grade too! May need to pick your brains for this one, 2nd grade team! I live in the land of comprehension and am admittedly rusty on some of my print work & fluency strategies!
A4: I think 2nd grade does a great job of assessing, setting goals, teaching & monitoring for each unit. Sometimes I wonder if they should keep an overarching goal for print work, fluency, engagement if needed?

@WK4KDZ A4: definitely need to do “reset” at various points in the year with assessment conferences. I get stuck in the rut of teaching conferences bc there is so much to teach! But I need to slow down and reassess more than I currently do #PSDRDG
@WK4KDZ A2: what struggles don’t I have?! I struggle to find a balance between students building authentic reading relationships and holding them accountable. I’ve tried reflection sheets but then kids just focused on the sheet, not the actual conversation #PSDRDG
A6: My biggest take away so far is that teacher language and feedback is critical. Listen. Provide clear and concise feedback. Empower students to take control of their work. #PSDRDG
@WK4KDZ A4: I use these. I just go back a page to see what I worked on last time with my students. Open to other suggestions because I’m not in love with this system yet 😔 #PSDRDG
@WK4KDZ A2: compliment conferencing comes very naturally. I have to work hard at research-compliment-teach. I could sit with kids for the whole hour sometimes!!! And also choosing appropriate strategies for them to work on...sometimes hard in the moment! #PSDRDG
@WK4KDZ A1: Aside from feedback from me, I have students give feedback to each other. “Praises” and “polishes.” I be been working with students to have them give polishes based on the progressions #PSDRDG
@WK4KDZ A6: I’ll have to snap a pic of how students use these some other time, but this has TRANSFORMED my literacy blocks this year. For the boxes, students either get post it’s from me during conferring or even write down their own “notes” from mini lessons. #PSDRDG
