It was rainy this week! k3 worked on a class craft together since we are exploring weather during our morning meetings and have taken a big interest in paint! Our windows are looking lively with the new artwork! What weather should we create next? @TonyPontesPS

Have a wonderful February break TPPS! ๐๐ผ
The results: ALL bridges passed the miniature toy figure test and the tissue box testโฆ only two bridges survived the 3 LB jug of sanitizer! We discussed what makes structures strong and what could be done to make them even stronger to withstand items with a large mass. WTG 1B!
The building begins! With only ten minutes to build, students must work together to carefully assess their materials and building plan. A few teams started over from scratch after testing their bridges before the time was up and came up with a great solution! @TonyPontesPS
1B hard at work building bridges to test their structureโs strength against items in the classroom with different mass. They chose their own materials and devised a plan in advance as a team. I am so impressed by their collaboration and problem solving! Stay tuned for the results
For todayโs math experience we used non-standard materials such as linking cubes and paper clips to measure shoes, tables, pencils and hands. The students in 1B enjoyed comparing their shoe sizes and ordering them from smallest to largest! ๐
My last week with 1B has been filled with fun & laughter! Today we celebrated Valentineโs Day! It goes down in the books as another โBEST DAY EVERโ according to the students! Today we talked about kindness and friendship and ways to be bucket fillers everyday๐@TonyPontesPS

1B was extra excited to see their artwork displayed on the walls. They worked with their 6/7 buddies to design and create love-bugs! ๐
1B wanted to use paint for their artwork this week, so we used cotton swabs instead of brushes to strengthen fine motor skills, and make patterns. A work of he(art) ๐๐ @TonyPontesPS
1B students really enjoyed exploring the gigantic map in the library! They learned more about how a compass can be used for direction and how to identify land and water on a map. Thank you @AJackmannTL for this amazing experience! @TonyPontesPS
1B enjoyed our creation stations, they constructed some very fancy gingerbread houses made out of popsicle sticks and had fun painting their winter scenes (a two day process)!
