Public Image Ltd. - DEATH DISCO

1979年にリリースのある意味ポストパンク史上最も衝撃的なシングル。

そのポストパンクの代表作が、パンクの王者セックス・ピストルズのジョンライドンが結成したPiLがリリースしたのだから彼がいかに当時の音楽シーンの中心にいたかわかる。

ジョン・ライドンが癌で亡くなった母・ノーラへの追悼として書いた極めて個人的な楽曲。

母の好きだったチャイコフスキーの「白鳥の湖」を引用して、母への追悼でDEATH DISCO(死の踊り)として、ダブ、ノイズ、アヴァンギャルド、パンクが渾然一体となったサウンドを奏でるジョンライドン。

愛とパンク魂が一体となった名曲。
