The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) today hosted the 5th edition of its Book Reading Programme, featuring The Pain and the Promise: Insights and Fragments on Nigeria and People, Public and Personal, written by Paul C. Nwabuikwu, at the NCDMB Conference Centre, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Representing the Executive Secretary, NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe (FNSE, FIPS), the General Manager, Corporate Communications, Chief Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to promoting reading, continuous learning and intellectual engagement as part of its broader mandate to develop Nigerian capacity and increase the participation of Nigerians and indigenous businesses in the oil and gas industry. He noted that building sustainable local capacity requires not only technical competence, but also knowledge, critical thinking and creativity.

The book reading session, moderated by Mr. Lishman Onisodemuya, featured an engaging conversation with the author on his writing journey, experiences and the themes explored in the book, followed by a question-and-answer session and book signing.

The event attracted NCDMB management and staff, academics, members of the National Institute of Public Relations and Association of Nigerian Authors (Bayelsa State Chapter), journalists, students and other well meaning invited guests, reinforcing the programme’s role as a platform for intellectual exchange, continuous learning and the celebration of Nigerian literary voices.
