Thanks @IslandLakePS families for a great food drive!
So proud of all the hard work my students did to make the “action” element of their food insecurity inquiry a success.
@orangevillefood
Vertical non-permanent surfaces = fully engaged students every time 🙌🏼
One of the many ways we’ve been spending our math classes reviewing for our patterning & algebra test on Friday.

7B is busy learning to annotate non-fiction texts to better our understanding.
Next week we’re starting our Article of the Week unit, where students will be responsible for finding background info, making connections, and creating open-ended questions for their seminar groups.
So many different ways to show one concept 🎨
Grade 7s were inspired by Van Gogh’s small brush strokes and eye for movement when creating their latest art piece.
Very proud of the perseverance through what was definitely a long journey!
We’ve been hard at work planning our awareness campaign about food insecurity.
We’ll be presenting to classes in the school next week, and running a food drive for @orangevillefood from Dec 2-13.
So proud of my students!
@IslandLakePS

Teamwork makes the dream work.

So excited to relate all of our learning to the UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals this year. Our current Science project topics could bring new learning that relates to SDG 7, 9, 11, 12 and 13.
I can’t wait for all of the discussions we’ll have!
@UN_SDG @IslandLakePS
Note to self: stop telling students about the things that gross you out… they won’t forget!
C was so excited to see me in the hallway today so he could request a photo be taken of us with the tooth he just pulled out (see blood still in mouth). 🤮
Anything for the kids!
Bonus: did you know that 10 to the power of 100 is called a googol? So glad this student could share with us everything he knows about giant numbers!
We decided that a googolplexian has waaaay too many 0s for us to write out by hand. That’s 10 to the power of a googolplex! 🤯
We’ve been hard at work mastering using powers of ten to show large numbers in expanded form. Today the class took some time to test each other and were so excited to share their whiteboards with me.
