Our @Browne_Academy Fiber Art elective students are creating their own fabric patterns, which we'll print and turn into masks, and I love what I'm seeing so far.

Middle schoolers at @Browne_Academy started the year with a focus on one of our core values - community. Eighth graders set up the community art project by measuring, arranging, and painting, while all grades used line, pattern, and texture to create a unique individual.

I started a cross-curricular unit (Ss are making a Sesame Street-like show in Spanish) with 7/8 before Spring Break. Having rotated to 5/6, I come into the art room each day to find new puppets, and I can't even deal with how cute they are.

Being able to have students immediately hang their art on the wall as they finish is a perk of having my own homeroom this year. We may need to line the art room walls with bulletin boards for '21-'22!

@lisa_montibello 5th grade, since that's where our curriculum covers ancient Egypt. I usually pass out a template, but pre-cut the top and bottom pieces this year. The ss created the side walls using their rulers as a template and constructed all details. TY - I'm so proud of their work!

Never using gray clay for this project again - these sarcophagi are fabulous.

Also, I love that the one student who is still working is doing so because she is - 100% of her own volition - using her history notes to add cuneiform text to the sides of her sarcophagus.

BREAKING NEWS: A previously undiscovered cache of sarcophagi has been unearthed on the @Browne_Academy campus in Alexandria (Virginia). Fifth grade students will be glazing these ancient artifacts tomorrow!

I want to preface this by saying this is not a universal experience (and it's not even me every day) - but this bizarre school year has really highlighted the fact that I have one of the best jobs in the world. #arted
