How cool is this?!! I’ve been inspired to create a Google scavenger hunt for my class for the fall! This is such a great idea and honestly would be SO helpful. #tch432#f5f
In my keynote I always end by talking about every person in that room is loved, worthy, and needed. I share the statistics of suicide and how our words could be used to save a life.
Today, when I finished, someone messaged me and told me they were the statistic. They were considering ending their life today. That that morning they considered ending it all.
But my words moved them today to find help. To get support.
I couldn’t help but be overcome by emotion in that moment.
Our words matter. Never forget the incredible worth inside you.

This is such a special quote. I feel like being a teacher is such a special job, we get to teach the future of our world and make such a powerful impact in our students lives. #tch432#F5F
Empowering students to become critical thinkers is so important! Encourage students to be curious and ask questions… that is when the best learning takes place!! #tch432#F5F
There’s something so exciting about brand new teachers’ classrooms and watching them get it ready all summer long. So much wonder. So much self-drive. So much innocence.
The sad part is when we see a new teacher lose that because they don’t feel supported during their first year.
Support your new teachers.
🔺Check on them daily.
🔸Model lessons for them.
🔺Provide them an automatic coaching cycle with the instructional coach on day 1.
🔸Provide specific feedback.
🔺Model the first phone call home.
🔸Pre-plan their first parent conf and do it with them.
🔺Simply ask, “How can I help?” And ask often.
Teachers will be more likely to stay in the profession when they feel supported. Plain and simple.
What did I miss?

This week’s five finds:
1. I loved this question asked in the #buildhopeEDU chat: Why is it important to forgive others?
Forgiving others means to move forward and not dwell on the past.
5. PLN’s are so important in education. I love how open needed a PLN can be, you can grow your PLN through social media, online trainings, coworkers and friends, blogs, etc. The options are endless!
