-Did failing to convert some opportunities contribute to this defeat?

Ran: I think this defeat is due to the fact that I myself wasn't able to finish points at crucial moments. I think the fact that I wasn't able to score points today contributed to our defeat.

-You approached this Volleyball Nations League with the goal of winning the gold medal. Along the way, you also set a record of 13 consecutive victories in the preliminary round. In your opinion, what are the aspects that make Japan a feared team around the world today, and, at the same time, what are the aspects that still need to be improved?

Ran: Without a doubt, our strength in fighting for every single point is one of the areas in which the Japanese national team has improved significantly. However, in medal-winning matches, we still haven't managed to win the final, decisive point, nor the most important points. I felt that clearly today too.
At the same time, I believe our defense and our playing style are now at a level that can compete with the best teams in the world. We must continue to believe in this, but at the same time, we must be even more determined to win that final point, the point that wins the match.

-From here, the journey towards Olympic qualification will begin. What is your outlook on the future?

Ran: In Olympic qualification, a defeat like this will be unacceptable. That's why I think the experience here was still very important and positive for us. However, we weren't able to win that final, decisive point, so I want to become a player capable of winning it when events like the Asian Championships and, above all, the Olympics arrive.
