@iamscicomm Again, agree with arguments made for first 3 rows. Fourth example is problematic but I think main issue here is aesthetics. Whether we like it or not, we value aesthetics. Aesthetics affect perception of quality and validity. 4th row looks clunky, breaks simplicity seen above.

@iamscicomm I agree but, in upper row example, I think that the main issue is directing audience attention. If lots of text on a slide, audience more likely to read the text and devote energy to processing the text on the slide rather than the words you are saying.
