#SFFpit That awkward moment when you find out you're a clone of Jesus, and all the bad things that ever happened to you were orchestrated by a cult trying to make you into the Antichrist. So you destroy the cult, take back your life, and become a dark superhero instead. #SF#A
Do you own any rare or valuable books? We've got Game of Thrones signed by George Martin, Vampire Chronicles signed by Anne Rice, Outlander signed by Diana Gabaldon, Fight Club signed by Chuck Palahniuk, Inferno signed by Dan Brown, and a US first edition Dracula.
@ChaputKerry You're not alone. When I finished my first book, a lot of people congratulated me and asked to see it...only to get radio silence, including from my wife. It annoyed me at first but I let it go because they're probably just afraid of hurting my feelings.
@RichardERock1 I was a ghost hunter for 10 years. I never saw anything, got a few good EVPs. Most of the time there was a normal explanation, some we couldn't explain but we didn't see anything ourselves either. I believe in ghosts, but think it has more to do with string theory or quantum.
@KupcakeProse@taliesin_g YES! I even named my fictional town Weeden as a little nod. I thought spelling it Whedon would be too on the nose. Like Buffy, everything in my book is a metaphor for teenage angst.
#WritingCommunity#amquerying Does anyone know of any publishers that publish books that are dark and edgy? Lots of swearing, controversial subject matter, etc.
@lilaeris_9 That's happened to me. I had an agent tweet asking if anyone had anything like the exact comp titles I was using in my query. I got excited and submitted...next day rejection. The fastest I've ever gotten.
@RudyLopes5 Use Manuscript Wishlist to find out what they're looking for. Then research them. Look at their twitter, Google them. Query Tracker has comments where people comment their experiences, how long it took to get a response, if they ever replied, etc.
@RAHane_writer I just moved about 40 minutes away! My wife and I used to be ghost hunters and had a cable access TV show that aired in 23 cities in 11 states. The ghost tours are fun but you have to be careful. We went on one and they were like "you get a lot of orbs right after it rains!"
@lilaeris_9 In college I wrote a story with the title "F**ked Up". Later in the year the teacher said he doesn't have a good memory and doesn't remember titles too well, but there was one that year that he DOES remember....and without naming it, everybody in class looked at me and laughed.
@SuperStacey318 I'm a school bus driver.... in Florida. Our governor said we can't tell the kids to wear masks or they'll cut the school's funding. Gotta love Florida.
@KupcakeProse Wait until you have two of them, and one of them shouts "Mommy come in here!" So you go into their room and they're both standing there naked and they say "We peed on the floor!"
@GoodwynPub@ryanmiller732 That happened to me...next day rejection, the fastest I've ever gotten. Thing is, I only sent her my query + ONE page. And everything matched her MSWL, so I thought I'd get AT LEAST a partial request. Made me take a break and revise my whole opening.
@freshbrewbooks Got a like from one fake (vanity) publisher, and one real editor - but I didn't submit to them because I don't think my book would go well with their political views. Wish I would have stayed home all day and just done this instead of going out, which ended up being a bust.
